Beginning 1 May 2025, Thailand will officially implement the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)—a new, mandatory online entry system for all non-Thai nationals traveling to the country. This initiative replaces the traditional paper arrival forms and represents a significant step toward modernizing immigration procedures at all international ports of entry.
Whether you’re planning a leisure holiday in Phuket, a cultural exploration of Chiang Mai, or a business trip to Bangkok, this new process is something every traveler must be aware of.

What Is the TDAC?

The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is an online pre-arrival registration system designed to streamline immigration procedures and enhance border security. It will apply to all international travelers who are not Thai citizens, regardless of their visa type or travel purpose.

Travelers must submit their information online before entering Thailand. Upon successful completion, a digital QR code will be issued, which travelers will present to immigration officers upon arrival.

Who Needs to Complete the TDAC?

The requirement applies to:

  • All non-Thai nationals entering Thailand
  • All ports of entry: airports, land borders, and sea ports
  • All types of travel: tourism, business, education, MICE, etc.

Exemptions:

  • Thai citizens
  • Transit passengers who remain in the airport's international transit area
  • Travelers entering under diplomatic or official status (case-by-case basis)

When & How to Register

Travelers must complete their TDAC registration within 72 hours (3 days) prior to arrival in Thailand.

Step-by-step Guideline:

  1. Visit the official TDAC Portal: https://tdac.immigration.go.th
  2. Fill in your personal information, passport details, flight info, and travel purpose
  3. Upload any necessary documentation (e.g., visa, if applicable)
  4. Submit and receive a QR code via email
  5. Present the QR code to immigration officers upon arrival

Note: Each traveler, including children, must complete a separate registration.

Why Is TDAC Being Introduced?

The TDAC initiative reflects Thailand’s commitment to:

  • Streamlining arrival procedures for greater efficiency
  • Improving border security through early information capture
  • Enhancing passenger convenience by eliminating the need for paper forms
  • Reducing processing times at immigration counters

The system also aligns with Thailand’s broader digital transformation goals in tourism, public services, and international cooperation.

What This Means for Travelers

For travelers, TDAC is a step forward in creating a smoother and more organized arrival experience. With no more physical forms to fill out on the plane or in arrival halls, the process becomes quicker and more seamless.

However, travelers should be mindful of the 72-hour window and ensure the form is completed before departure. Incomplete or missing registrations may cause delays or complications upon arrival.

As Thailand continues to embrace digital transformation in travel, the introduction of the TDAC is a clear step toward a faster, safer, and more modern entry experience for international visitors. While adapting to new systems can feel daunting, a little preparation goes a long way.
