Vietnam E-visa Guide

Effective from August 15, 2023, the Vietnamese Government has opened its E-visa system to citizens of all countries, irrespective of their travel purposes, be it tourism, family visits, business, or other activities. This policy change allows travelers to obtain e-visas for stays of up to 90 days, offering flexibility and convenience. Additionally, the E-visa system's accessibility has expanded to 42 international checkpoints, including airports, land ports, and seaports, simplifying entry into Vietnam from multiple points. For those with urgent travel needs, expedited E-visa processing options of 1 or 2 working days are available, ensuring readiness for unforeseen situations.

*Note: The validity period of 90 days is from the date you declare in the form, not the date of entry.

E-visa requirements

To be eligible for a Vietnam E-visa, applicants should meet following criteria:

A passport with a minimum validity of 6 months
At least 2 empty pages in the passport
One passport-sized photo
Scanned copies of the passport's bio page and the passport-sized photo
A credit or debit card for E-visa fee payment

How to apply

Applying for a Vietnam E-visa is a convenient online process through the National Public Service portal. Here are the steps to succeed in your application:

1. Visit the official government website for E-visa applications: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/web/guest/trang-chu-ttdt

2. The initial page may be in Vietnamese. Click on the UK flag icon at the top of the page to switch to English.

3. Attach scanned copies of the passport’s bio page and the passport-sized photo. Ensure that the copies are clear and accurate.

4. Complete the application form with precise information about yourself or the applicants, as required. Verify that all details match the applicant’s passport.

5. Make the E-visa payment using a valid credit/debit card. The fee amount may vary depending on your visa type:

Single entry: USD 25
Multiple entry: USD 50

6. Review the information provided and if everything is correct, submit the application. Once the application is successfully submitted, you should receive a confirmation email containing your application reference number. Await the processing of your E-visa. This process takes 1 to 3 working days, depending on the chosen processing time.

Once your E-visa is approved, you will receive an email with a link to download the E-visa document. Print this document and keep it with your passport to present during boarding and upon arrival.
