On September 9, 2025, Cambodia opened Techo International Airport (KTI), its largest and most advanced aviation hub to date. Located 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh, this state-of-the-art facility replaces the nearly 70-year-old Phnom Penh International Airport and signals Cambodia’s ambition to strengthen its regional and international connectivity. Tour operators and travelers should note that KTI now replaces the old code PNH when booking flights.

Cambodia's Main Airport

Techo International Airport now serves as Cambodia’s primary international gateway and stands among the largest airports in Southeast Asia. Spanning 2,600 hectares, the facility is designed to welcome up to 15 million passengers annually in its first phase, with expansion plans aiming for 50 million passengers by 2050. As of September 2025, it hosts around 25 international airlines along with four domestic carriers: Air Cambodia, Cambodia Airways, Sky Angkor Airlines, and AirAsia Cambodia.

Capacity for Growth and Global Connectivity

The airport’s initial phase supports 15 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 30 million by 2030 and 50 million by 2050. It is fully equipped to accommodate the largest aircraft, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8 models, positioning Cambodia as an emerging aviation hub in Southeast Asia.

The terminals also maximize natural light and feature a solar farm, rainwater harvesting, and waste reduction systems. Lush indoor and rooftop gardens enhance the airport's beauty while improving air quality.
