The 18th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC), held from September 5 to 7 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), brought together global industry professionals to explore the future of travel. With the theme "Sustainable Tourism - Shaping the Future," this year’s event was awarded the prestigious title of “Asia’s Best Trade Show” at the World MICE Awards ceremony.

Connecting and Exploring New Horizons

Our team attended the ITE HCMC as trade visitors, engaging with partners and exploring opportunities for growth and collaboration within the travel industry. The event featured 480 exhibitors and facilitated more than 11,000 B2B meetings, offering us numerous opportunities to forge meaningful connections and strengthen our position in the industry.

We also focused on discovering updates in hotels, fresh activities, and unique local experiences to keep our offerings relevant and exciting for our guests. By staying informed, we ensure that we continue to provide enriching and authentic travel experiences that showcase the best of each destination.

Along with exploring travel opportunities, we sought business prospects that align with our sustainability goals, reinforcing our long-term commitment to responsible tourism.

Gaining Inspiration for Future Marketing

This year’s theme of responsible travel aligns with our ongoing mission to promote environmentally friendly experiences. Our marketing team was inspired to enhance our sustainable travel offerings, including eco-conscious accommodations, reducing waste, and supporting local communities in preserving their cultural heritage.

Our dedication to sustainability is reflected in the unique gifts we provide to guests in Vietnam, such as reusable tote bags made from organic cotton, traditional Vietnamese coffee phin filters with our logo, and bamboo straws. These eco-friendly products are crafted by local artisans, supporting both sustainability and local craftsmanship.

Learning from Industry Experts

A highlight of the event was the seminar on Green Transformation and Net Zero Travel, where Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, outlined key priorities for the industry:

“The tourism industry must adopt renewable energy sources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and eliminate plastic waste to improve the effectiveness of tourism development policies, especially in line with digital transformation.”

This message resonates deeply with our actions, such as reducing plastic use in our operations. For example, we’ve eliminated single-use plastics from our tours, using biodegradable alternatives across accommodations and in guest experiences. The seminar also underscored how technology can drive sustainable tourism, giving us insights into refining our strategies while remaining committed to eco-friendly practices.

Speaking on the broader transformation of Vietnam’s tourism industry, our CEO, Mr. Lukasz Kozlowski, remarked:

"Vietnam’s tourism industry is evolving rapidly in the post-pandemic era, and ITE 2024 stands as a prime example of this transformation. The country’s provinces are brimming with new experiences and significant investments, solidifying Vietnam’s position as a premier destination in Southeast Asia. Trade fairs like ITE offer the perfect platform to showcase this vibrant growth."

With these insights in mind, we look forward to applying new strategies that align with the ongoing evolution of tourisms in Vietnam and beyond.
