Vietnam’s entry procedures continue to evolve, with Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport now added to the country’s Pre-Arrival Information pilot program.

The online declaration system was first introduced for selected international arrivals through Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc. With Hanoi now included, more travelers entering Vietnam are being asked to submit their arrival details online before landing.

For most clients, this is a simple pre-travel step. It does not replace a visa, visa exemption, or immigration check on arrival. Instead, it is designed to help immigration authorities receive traveller information in advance and support a smoother arrival process at the airport.

Vietnam Entry Update

Where is the Vietnam pre-arrival declaration currently required?

At the time of this update, travelers should complete the declaration when arriving internationally through:

  • Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Ho Chi Minh City
  • Phu Quoc International Airport
  • Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi

Travelers should complete the declaration within 72 hours, or three days, before entering Vietnam.

We recommend completing it once flight details and accommodation information are confirmed, but not too early, as the system may only accept submissions within the allowed pre-arrival window.

After submission, travelers should save the generated QR code on their phone. Where possible, it is also helpful to keep a screenshot or printed copy as a backup.

Where can travelers complete the declaration?

The declaration should be completed via the official Pre-Arrival Information portal managed by Vietnam’s immigration authorities.

Travelers should be careful to use the official government portal only, as unofficial websites may charge unnecessary fees or collect personal information.
