3-Day Tropical Kuching Itinerary
Day 1: DIVE INTO THE WILDS OF BORNEO!
We will start our journey in Kuching, the southwest city of Sarawak on Borneo Island. On the first day, we will get settled into our accommodation and explore the pleasantries that this city has to offer.
On your first day, take a leisurely stroll along the Sarawak riverbank to admire the majestic provincial parliament buildings and the striking modern pedestrian bridge. Did you know that Kuching has an obsession with cats? That's right! You’ll find numerous statues, sculptures, and murals dedicated to cats throughout the city. The rest of the evening is yours to relax and recover from your journey.

Day 2: RAINFORESTS AND ORANGUTANS
This morning, you will depart from the city and head into the heart of the island to experience the renowned nature of Borneo, one of the largest islands in the world. Today’s adventure is all about gliding down the gentle waters of the Kiri River in a kayak. Even if you’ve never paddled before, our experts will guide you through a thorough introduction to the sport before you set out into the lush river. As you navigate to the main river, get ready to surround yourself in Malaysia’s natural beauty of various sights of native plants and herbs. We will also make a stop by a small riverside village to have lunch. After replenishing your energy, you'll continue the kayak adventure through the calm waters and enjoy the pristine jungle and unique rock formations.
Following your kayaking adventure, you'll proceed to the Semenggoh Nature Centre, dedicated to the conservation of orangutans. These critically endangered creatures suffer from deforestation of their natural habitats. At the center, you'll learn fascinating facts about orangutans, observe them up close during feeding times, and see semi-wild individuals under the reserve's protection, who are being prepared for release back into the rainforest whenever possible.

Day 3: BAKO NATIONAL PARK EXPLORATION
Today, we will head towards the sea, embarking on the next stage of your Borneo nature adventure in Bako National Park! This park is one of the few places in Borneo where you can observe proboscis monkeys in their natural habitat. It also features a fascinating coastline and dense vegetation.
Access to the park’s trails, paths, and beautiful beaches is often easiest by sea. Depending on the conditions, you will likely reach the park by water, guided by a local boatman who has navigated the maze of local river channels since childhood. He will decide the best route and timing for your arrival at Bako National Park.
Upon arrival, you will embark on one of the trekking trails. These trails vary in difficulty, from easy-access paths to more challenging ones with small inclines and tangled roots. You will choose the exact route on-site with your guide. Lunch will be a picnic during your visit to the park, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Bako National Park.

Day 4: MORE TO COME?
This marks the end of our Kuching trip, but your journey in Asia doesn't have to end here! Kuching offers connections to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and we highly recommend our "Through the Malay Peninsula" tour. If you've fallen in love with Borneo's beautiful nature, consider a trip to Mulu or Kota Kinabalu, both accessible via direct flights.
