DAY 1: WELCOME TO BEN TRE!
From Saigon, we start the journey to Mekong Delta in the morning (8:00-9:00). After about two hours, we reach Ben Tre province, the heaven of coconuts and evergreen canals.
At the pier, our boat trip begins, where you'll uncover the secrets of the water coconut and its culinary uses. What is a water coconut and what is it eaten with? Can a river change its course? What are the uses of coconuts? Do crocodiles live in the Mekong? You'll get all the answers here with our knowledgeable guides.
We will now make our first stop at a floating fish farm, where you'll be mesmerized by a sea of shimmering fish nestled under the special boats. As a farming model exclusive to the river region, this is the perfect place to learn about Mekong's fish species and breeding techniques.
A GLIMPSE INTO MEKONG LOCALS' EVERYDAY LIFE
After drifting through the Mekong's currents, let's get back on our feet and wander through fragrant orchards and peaceful villages of Ben Tre, soaking in the local life and discovering the secrets of tropical fruit cultivation.
Next, hop on a tuktuk and head to a coconut candy factory, where you will learn about many uses of this versatile fruit and sample some delicacies that it creates. Take your time to enjoy the tranquility of Vietnam's countryside as you have a sip of some delightful honey kumquat tea and enjoy succulent bites of exotic fruits, such as jackfruit, rambutan, longan, and mango. Indulge in the satisfying experience that will keep your senses dancing!
CRUISE BY SAMPAN
Next up, drift along the winding canals of the water coconut forests in a sampan, a traditional Vietnamese rowboat. Gently rocking on the water, the calm and serene ambiance of the region will soothe your soul, enveloping you in a tranquil embrace.
For lunch, enjoy an authentic Mekong Delta feast with mouth-watering local specialties such as the deep-fried elephant ear fish and fresh water shrimps. And if you're brave enough, why not have a taste of the notorious King of fruit - the durian?
From there, we will set off to the capital of the Mekong Delta - the vibrant city of Can Tho.
OVERNIGHT IN CAN THO
Your stay for the night is a charming ecolodge, tucked away in the rural heart of the village. Settle into this cozy accommodation, where you’ll experience a slice of local life. Enjoy a traditional family-style dinner, savoring a delightful array of local delicacies. Then, retire for the night in this tranquil retreat to prepare for the excitement of tomorrow’s adventure!
DAY 2:
MORNING CRUISE TO CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET
At sunrise, around 6:00 am, we will set off on a cruise to Cai Rang Floating Market - the largest working floating wholesale market in the Delta. We will witness firsthand how the merchants live on their ships with their entire families. Breakfast will be served right on the ship and this is also the perfect place to try the freshest exotic fruits of Southeast Asia.
Hang out on a boat coffee shop, take a sip of coffee, and you’ll sail through the famous floating market that makes Can Tho famous and indulge in the vibrant lifestyle of wholesalers and merchants on the water.
VISIT THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Around 8:30 am we will return to the ecolodge where you’ll have free time to explore around the homestay and enjoy its attractions until 11:00am.
Then we will check out and visit the local craft chocolate factory, where we get to see the full chocolate production process, from drying cocoa beans to delivering the final product.
LUNCH AND GOODBYE
After the excursion, we will have lunch and then head back to Saigon. We will end our Can Tho and Mekong Delta 2 days 1 night trip around 4:00 PM.
