ITINERARY
Day 1
From Saigon, we start the journey to Mekong Delta in the morning (8:00-9:00). After about two hours, we reach Ben Tre province the heaven of coconuts and evergreen canals.
As soon as we reach the pier, we will start exploring the area by boat. What is a water coconut and what is it eaten with? Can a river change its course? What are the uses of coconuts? Do crocodiles live in the Mekong? You'll get all the answers here with our knowledgeable guides.
Here, we'll take you to a local coconut factory to try out this Ben Tre delicacy. While in the area, we'll also visit a floating fish farm, a farming model exclusive to the river region. This is the perfect place to learn about Mekong's fish species and the breeding techniques.
After the insightful session on local handicrafts, it's now time for a tuk tuk adventure! The ride will take you through the local villages, opening up sights into the local way of life.
For lunch, we'll take you to a lovely garden restaurant. Let's dive into the amazing cuisine of Mekong Delta. Fall in love with the crunchy bites of elephant ear fish, freshwater shrimps, and other delicacies that you'll only get to try with us!
The last stage of this part of the day will be on sampans! These small rowing boats that will take us through the evergreen coconut canals back to the larger boat and then to the quay.
From there, we will set off to the capital of the Mekong Delta - the vibrant city of Can Tho.
We will stay at the ecolodge, a homestay situated in the rural part of the village for an authentic look into the local lifestyle. After a delightful dinner, stroll around the picturesque Ninh Kieu wharf, taking in the city's beauty. Then we'll head back to the homestay and rest for the night.
Day 2
At sunrise, around 6:00 am, we will set off on a cruise to Cai Rang Floating Market - the largest working floating wholesale market in the Delta. We will learn how the merchants live on their ships with their entire families. Breakfast will be served right on the ship and this is also the perfect place to try the freshest exotic fruits of Southeast Asia.
Hang out on a boat coffee shop, take a sip of coffee, and you’ll sail through the famous floating market that makes Can Tho famous and indulge in the vibrant lifestyle of wholesalers and merchants on water.
Around 8:30 am we will return to the ecolodge where you’ll have free time to explore around the homestay and enjoy its attractions until 11:00am.
Then we will check out and visit the local craft chocolate factory, where we get to see the full chocolate production process, from drying cocoa beans to delivering the final product.
After the excursion, we will have lunch and then head back to Saigon. We will end the trip around 4:00 PM.
